If you look “Outside Your Window” you will see
that spring is here and summer can’t be far behind. And when summertime
is mentioned in this area many start to think about the North Haverhill Fair
and wonder who will be on the Thayer Stage in late July.
That question is now half answered. Saturday, July 31 will see up and coming
singer, songwriter and producer Sarah Buxton
singing about her life. Her self titled debut album hit the charts
in a big way in February of this year. The lead song “Outside Your Window”
became a song that everyone could and does sing along with. Currently Sarah
is on tour with Martina McBride and Trace Adkins on the Country Throwdown
Tour. But Sarah has been signed up for the 66th Annual North Haverhill Fair
and promises to put on a show that won’t soon be forgotten.
Elsewhere on the fairgrounds in 2010 there will be the addition of “Horses,
Horses, Horses”. This show has toured many other venues
and will bring it’s multiple equine acts to the fairgrounds with multiple
shows each of the five days of the fair starting on Wednesday, July 28 and
running thru Sunday, August 1.
Another popular event that returns for 2010 will be the T-Bar-T
Rodeo. Thursday night will see the cowboys and cowgirls taking
over the McDanolds Arena for some real rodeo events. Bull riding, calf roping
and barrel racing are just three of the spectacular events scheduled. Over
the past two years the crowd has been well entertained by this thrill a minute
spectacular.
Other exciting news for 2010 includes higher cash prizes for competitors in
the always popular Demolition Derbies.
Again this year there are three divisions scheduled. A four cylinder class,
another division for six and eight cylinder cars and a third class for mini-vans.
And this year the winner of each class will take home $600 cash. It should
lead to even more excitement for the crowd and an increased number of vehicles
signing up to participate. For details call Jim Aldrich at 603-787-6640.
Joey + Rory added to North Haverhill Fair schedule
There have been many husband and wife teams in country music.
One more that can be added to the list is Joey
+ Rory. First joined as a singing team for “Can You
Duet?”, they were already life partners with different paths in the
music business. One clip from their website says it best. "This is a
special part of our lives and love story—just like the restaurant is
a part of Joey's life, and just like songwriting is a part of mine,"
comments Rory. "The reason we have the plus sign between our names is
because at first it was Joey. Add me in there, and the combination just feels
right I guess. You know, it's great to do what you love for a living, but
it's a whole different game to get to do it with the one you love." The
music they will perform includes the hit “Cheater, Cheater”, plus
some other songs from their album including “Boots” and appropriately
enough following the Thursday night action at North Haverhill Fair, “Rodeo”,
"Fashioned after a popular television show, another
great new event on the Thayer Stage for 2010 will be our very own 'North
Haverhill Idol'! To enter this event participants are asked
to provide a tape or video of their act. Entries should be mailed to Gary
Scruton, PO?Box 67, Woodsville, NH??03785 or emailed to garyscruton@yahoo.com.
Acts will be limited to single or duo vocalists, and must be preapproved before
the event. The event itself will take place on Thursday, July 29 beginning
at 8:00 PM. A panel of judges with real music knowledge is being formed to
judge during the event. The judging trio will include Stephen John from WYKR
radio in Wells River. Chris Garrett of 99 Rock in Hanoverwill fill one of
the other two seats on the panel. The third and final seat is, as of this
date, not confirmed. But we promise to have a third judge who will nicely
round out our panel.
The 2010 edition of the North Haverhill Fair will also see a third year of
Guitar Hero competition taking place on the Thayer Stage.
This year’s edition has a couple of changes. First, there will be two
divisions of players. Those under 14 will get to compete against those in
the same age bracket while those 14 and older go into the open competition.
Qualifying for both divisions will take place on Wednesday and Thursday. Finals
will take place on Sunday. The other wrinkle to this popular event will be
the addition of a Rock Band division. So get your friends and practice your
game skills. Prizes and bragging rights will be handed out on Sunday.
Along with all these special events the 66th Annual North Haverhill Fair will
also have Ox pulling on Wednesday
and Thursday, Pony pulling on
Friday and the ever popular Horse pulling Saturday
and Sunday. Fiesta Shows will
continue with their always popular ride specials on Wednesday, Thursday &
Sunday, plus you can see the displays, 4-H Shows, Sunday Horse Show and so
much more.
